Break a sweat with exercise, and get your heart rate up every day. Your goal is 30 to 40 minutes of aerobic exercise every day.
Learn to shed stress like water off a duck’s back. Stress is only dangerous if you let it be. Learn to accept what you can’t change and change what you can’t accept.
Get your rest. Some of my patients tell me “I can sleep when I’m dead,” but I remind them that might be coming sooner than they think. Quality sleep is critical in the fight against cancer.
Have your regular screenings. A colonoscopy, an annual physical exam including a skin check, PAP smears, mammograms and annual blood work can detect problems earlier than waiting for symptoms.
Don’t smoke. Both first and secondhand smoke cause cancer. Make your home and office are smoke-free zones.
